London Marathon Training Update

I do the 5k Parkrun regularly, but that isn't going to get me round the 42.2k London Marathon course. Having had a bit of a break over Christmas (too many mince pies), I have been trying to get back into training. Today was a long run day and I managed to run, on and off, for around 2 hours.

As you can see from the pictures, it was a crisp, sunny afternoon in York, just cold!

I ran across York racecourse and over the River Ouse at Naburn.

Looks lovely doesn't it? This was the temperature at the time. -1 degree, but feeling like -4 degrees.

I headed back into York via Clifford’s Tower.

This was right near the end. A lovely day to be outside.

Update 24th April 2026

I set myself a target of raising £4,000 for Cats Protection and am halfway there. For a runner, the motivation of knowing that a large sum of money has been raised is huge. For Cats Protection, it gives them extra funds to continue their vital work.

There are a couple of easy ways to support my efforts and donate 100% to Cats Protection:

When checking out with an order on The Cat Gallery site (100% of donations made in April 2026 go to Cats Protection).

To all donors,

Thank you very much!
