Accessibility and Inclusivity Statement

At The Cat Gallery, we are committed to providing an inclusive and accessible shopping experience for all our customers. We believe that everyone, regardless of their abilities, should have equal access to our products and services.

Our Commitment

Physical Accessibility: Our York shop occupies a Grade II listed building which has two steps at the entrance and two further back in the shop. We have wheelchair ramps to assist with access. Staff will always aim to offer assistance. We are best placed to do this if you can let us know you are coming via email yorkshop@thecatgallery.co.uk

Digital Accessibility: We are working to make our website and online services accessible to all users, including those with disabilities. We have an ongoing project to add Alt tags to listings and are investigating the use of Shopify Accessibility Apps to improve keyboard only functionality and access for screen reader users.

Customer Service: Our staff are trained to assist customers with diverse needs. We are committed to providing excellent service to all our customers.

Feedback: We welcome feedback on how we can improve our accessibility and inclusivity efforts. Please contact us at yorkshop@thecatgallery.co.uk with any suggestions or concerns.

Inclusivity

Diverse Product Range: We offer a wide range of products that cater to the diverse needs of our customers.

Inclusive Environment: We strive to create a welcoming environment for all, regardless of background, gender, age, or ability. This applies to all: customers, staff and applicants for employment.

In an employment context, we consider all qualified applicants equally, regardless of race, colour, religion, gender, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, national origin, disability or age.

Thank you for choosing The Cat Gallery. We are committed to making your shopping experience as inclusive and accessible as possible.

Sustainability

We take our environmental responsibility seriously.

Recyclability of Materials

Our three most recent major product launches, accounting for approx. 50% of shop sales are made from stone, powdered gypsum and glass respectively. These are all natural/recyclable.

Cardboard packaging from goods we receive as stock is recycled via our mail order business where possible, either as outer cartons or filler.

We encourage customers to use their own shopping bags. Where a bag is required, it is either paper or biodegradable polythene.

Carbon Footprint

Worldwide sourcing is one of our USP’s BUT:

1. We always look in the UK first and select UK-made product where practicable. We use Union Jack labels in our mail order catalogue to help customers “shop local”.

2. Our in-house designed Lucky Cat is made in England, with some made in York.

3. We offer a Click & Collect service from our York shop.

4. We have actively scaled back our printed catalogue volumes, from 195,000 in 2020 to 58,000 in 2024 as we encourage customers to shop online.

5. We shop locally for goods and services where possible, including shop printing, graphic design, small electricals, repairs and maintenance and consumables.

6. Actively looking to work with local artists on our Lucky Cat project.
