From 1986 The Franklin Mint released three collections of cats, 39 pieces in total. The cats were handcrafted in a variety of materials in the style of a myriad of artistic traditions from all over the world and a wide time span. From a 19th Century Staffordshire pot cat via Art Deco and Faience back to the Han and Ch'Ing Dynasties of China.
Today, many people just buy the cat that takes their fancy or as a meaningful gift. Others pick one or more pieces for their specialist collection. Others are seeking to fill gaps in the 39 cat collection. Which one catches your eye?
Prices of cats are based on their scarcity. This can vary over time, so if you like a cat and are happy with the price, do not delay! Cats were originally supplied with an information card. If we have a card to go with a cat you purchase, we will include it. All cats offered are in good used condition, with no chips or other obvious flaws (except where clearly stated).
Size: The cats average about 6cm in height. The tallest are 8cm.
Materials: Vary by style of cat. For Example, Art Deco, Animalier, Asian and Bootscraper are all made of metal, whilst Crystal Clear and Blue Cobalt are glass.
