Original Lucky Cats

A Foiled Feline Lucky Cat with Gift Box

York is a City of Cats. Strolling in the City Centre it is impossible not so find a life-size cat statue staring down at you from on high.

A desire to offer visitors and locals a British-made souvenir of York's cat-friendly status led to Cat Gallery owners, Peter & Alison, designing the Original York Lucky Cat. Modelled on one of their own cats, Alfie, The Original York Lucky Cat is a souvenir, an art sculpture and a talisman with the power to transform the fortunes of those who believe.

Introduced in August 2023, The Original Lucky Cat has improved outcomes for many through the power of positive thinking. Lucky Cats and kittens have been re-homed to all parts of the globe. In fact, the very first online order was dispatched to New Zealand!

Original Lucky Cats are currently available in two versions:

Lucky Cat: 8.5cm tall, complete with collar and choice of charm, gift boxed. The charm allows you to purr-sonalise your cat (birthstone crystal, initial letter, flag plus other choices).

Special Editions

Limited Editions are occasionally made available to meet a growing demand from collectors. In 2025 the first Annual Cat was introduced, called Blue John.

Blue John was created accidentally by Peter whilst experimenting with a purple cat. Mimicking both the colours and patterns of Blue John, this cat has become a bestseller. Retirement date: March 2026.

Previous limited editions, shown below, include Fireside Familiar (Hallowe'en 2023) and Arial (Autumn 2024).

One-off Lucky Cats have been raffled to raise money for feline charities.

Sunflowers Cat raised £650 for Band of Rescuers, York in the Summer of 2025.

One of the newest additions to the range is the Winstanley Lucky Cat. Handcrafted and painted in Norfolk. A unique and unusual gift for a cat lover, exclusive to The Cat Gallery.
